Horse bit from Josiane Gauthier Collection with a brushed finish.
12,5 cm spoon mouthpiece made of sweet iron with top roller and copper barrels.
7-1/2" shank with stainless steel trim, pink stone and stainless steel dots.
Sweet iron will rust when it comes into contact with (air) humidity; the surface rust tastes sweet and naturally stimulates the saliva production. This will cause the horse to salivate more which in turn encourages better acceptance of the bit. The rusting process (oxidation) changes the colour of the bit to a brownish-grey.
A beginning of this oxidation process may already be visible when purchasing a new bit.
