WOW Weighted Tails

Weighted tail extensions help flatten tail carriage, and can assist in quieting the movement of a busy tail. Horses that carry their tails out behind them, or are busy with their tail, may benefit from the weight of a tail extension. Sometimes the fact that there is something braided up next to their tail bone is enough to help flatten their tail, regardless of the weight. In addition, a fake tail gives your horse an extra luxurious look by making the tail nice and full.

But check with your breed association, since not all registries allow weighted tails.The tails are made of 100% real horse hair. If you would like to use the tail at your breed association, please inquire about use as they do not all allow weighted tails.

This weighted tails incorporate a very convenient weight system that is built into the tail extension. The system features a threaded rod. The weight  is screwed onto the rod. Thus, the tail can also be used without a weight. The weights are interchangeable, all with minimal assembly! 

The tails are 100% horse hair, and legal with all associations that allow weighted tail extensions.

Weight of the tails varies from 520-625 gram. The tail comes with a seperate 303 gram weight to add to the tail. Which can easily be changed to a 582 gram weight (not included). They come to you with a natural finish so you can cut it to the length you need it to be or you may decide to leave it natural. For an ideal match, it is most convenient to bring your horse to the shows we attend or to visit a stable three minutes from the store. If this is not possible, take clear pictures of your horse's tail in the sunlight. Make sure the tail is really clean and you have a good picture of the inside. Check your photo before sending it to us. DOES YOUR PHOTO COLOR CLEARLY MATCH YOUR HORSE'S TAIL? Of course, it can always look different in real life so returning and exchanging is no problem.

• The first time you use your tail extension, wash and dry it for maximum fullness.
• After each use, wash your tail with an equine shampoo, rinse well and dry with a hair dryer, or air dry.
• Apply a non-silicone hair detangler to make brush-outs easier, and to prevent tangles.
• Condition your tail with a quality equine hair conditioner after every 6-8 shampoos. Rinse well, dry and follow up with an application of hair detangler.
• Avoid completely submersing your tail extension in water, and/or soaking it in water for long periods of time. Moisture can get trapped up in the head of the tail extension, where the tail hairs are bound together. Since air can’t reach this area, moisture can cause the tail hairs to rot, leading to tail hair loss.
• When your tail is not in use, it should be stored in a tail bag slightly longer than the tail extension to prevent the ends from curling.

The secret to a great looking tail is a good color match, correct application of the tail extension, and clean hair! When you braid in your tail extension, make sure the top of the extension is snug up against the tail bone – this prevents the tail extension from hanging loose, and swinging free on it’s own, separating from your horse’s own tail hair. Prior to braiding in your tail extension, make sure your horse’s tail and the tail extension are clean and free of tangles. Clean hair blends and flows much better than dirty hair! Be sure the tail extension is hung at the correct length – allowing a tail extension to hang lower than the fetlocks can cause the tail extension to get stepped on, possibly damaging both the tail extension, and your horse’s tail!
