Tom Balding Baseline Double Cross

“The Double Cross™ is an excellent transition bit. Really helps to prepare a colt to pack a bridle. Very soft yet makes a colt carry their noses up and down instead of pushing out. Really great for the colts that wants to reach for the bridle a lot.

This Tom Balding bit is available in three shank sizes

Short: This beautifully crafted Baseline bit features a Short© shank. The mouthpiece is the Double Cross© measuring 13 cm wide (5 1/8 inch). This shank measures 6 3/4".

Medium: This beautifully crafted Baseline bit features a Medium S© shank in a satin finish. The mouthpiece is the Double Cross© measuring 13 cm wide (5 1/8 inch). This shank measures 7 3/4".

Long: This beautifully crafted Baseline bit features a Long© shank. The mouthpiece is the Double Cross© measuring 13 cm wide (5 1/8 inch). This shank measures 8".

Sweet iron will rust when it comes into contact with (air) humidity; the surface rust tastes sweet and naturally stimulates the saliva production. This will cause the horse to salivate more which in turn encourages better acceptance of the bit. The rusting process (oxidation) changes the colour of the bit to a brownish-grey.

A beginning of this desired oxidation process may already be visible when purchasing a new bit.
